Black Bears are quite shy and rarely attack unless provoked. There has only been one death in NC from a bear. If you keep your distance, they will leave you alone.
Alligators are shy but may attack if they feel threatened. Only 3 fatal alligator attacks occur each year in the United States. So your chances of an alligator attack are slim.
The Eastern Coral Snake is beautiful but very shy. A bite from one is rare, but can be deadly. There have been no reported deaths from this snake in North Carolina.
